My Thoughts on Birthdays!

So as some of you may know, I just had my birthday!! I am one of those people who like to celebrate the whole week of my birthday and do a countdown and bug everyone! I find it super fun and exciting! I even get excited about other people’s birthdays because it is worth getting excited about, no matter how old you’re getting!

This topic came to mind when I was having a conversation about why I get so excited about birthdays a few hours before mine, and I realized how many people stop celebrating, even in their teen years! (so depressing!!)

So my friend asked: “What is so great about getting older?” My mind just like exploded, you are missing the point if you think that!

Every life is worth celebrating! You birthday is all about celebrating this life you were given. You were picked, chosen, and planned. Why would you not be happy about that? You should celebrate because God knew you before you were even born and has great things in store for you and gave you this life for a reason. It is not a bad thing to be sad about being another year older.

I understand that you may not be a Christian but even if you’re not, why wouldn’t you want to celebrate your life and be thankful for being here! Whatever your belief, you were chosen and miraculously made.

I am sorry if you are someone who may be hurting, hating life, or maybe even suicidal, but I hope you can see that your life is precious and a gift. Do not think of all the horrible things.

That’s why some people hate birthdays, they think, “Oh great another year older!” or “Another horrible day with my horrible family.” Some people hate it because maybe they feel alone and like no one cares about their birthday. DO NOT let people get you down on your birthday! And yes, sometimes your birthday can be hard and not always the best time, I have had my experiences, but just keep in mind it is not about those things. It is about celebrating the life you were given on that day years ago. Just be thankful for that and if you are sad on the actual day, celebrate the day after or the day after that because you are still alive and living and you can be happy about that any day!

I am sorry if I hit a touchy subject for anyone and I do not mean to offend anyone, but I felt like sharing my view on birthdays. I think they are wonderful.

Hope you can all keep that in mind, thanks for reading!
